S&T Bulgaria and the Technical University Sofia opened an ILM Training Center

Target: Develop skills for students, lecturers, potential and existing customers and S&T staff

21 June 2007. S&T Bulgaria and the Technical University (TU) Sofia officially opened a training lab with EMC equipment to focus on ILM and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery solutions to develop skills for students, lecturers, potential and existing customers and S&T staff.
S&T is the most successful EMC partner in Bulgaria and has realized the most complex Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery projects in the country. The ILM Training Center in Sofia marks a new stage in the company’s transition to professional services by establishing a platform for knowledge transfer in this strategic areas of IT Management. The S&T ILM Training Center at TU-Sofia will deliver courses to students as part of the standard University curricula, and also to potential and existing customers as well as S&T pre-sales consultants and engineers.

Opportunity for students
The equipment donated by S&T consists of EMC Clariion CX 300, equipped with corresponding software packages for configuration, management and monitoring, load balancing and path failover, data protection and replication. EMC Connectrix FC switch, server and workstations were also donated as a part of the Laboratory internal SAN solution. It gives the students an opportunity to get familiar with the newest storage and Information Lifecycle Management technologies, strategies and concepts. “The launch of the S&T ILM Training Center in the TU-Sofia is a move forward towards bridging the gap between academics and businesses by providing cutting-edge technologies and opportunity to practice with real-life equipment”, added Lyubomir Cholakov, Managing Director of S&T Bulgaria.

The official opening of the S&T ILM Training Center took place at the TU – Sofia, attended by the rector of the University, deputy rectors, faculty deans, lecturers, students, journalists, S&T and EMC representatives. “The donation from S&T together with additional support from EMC would help us to become one of the first Universities in Europe to be part of the S&T/EMC University program and deliver courses in high-end technologies”, commented K. Vesselinov, Rector of TU-Sofia.
